| My name is Liz Eisworth and I have been making fused glass jewelry since April 2005. I have a small studio in my garage where I cut, assemble and fire glass jewelry pieces. I attend the Spruill Center for the Arts in the Jewelry and Metalsmithing program. I earned a Bachelors of Interior Design (B.I.D) from Louisiana State University in 1994 and graduated from The Chubb Institute studying Web Design and Programming in 2003. Working from home doing free-lance web design allowed me the opportunity to pursue jewelry making on a formal level. I currently sell work at craft shows, private shows, or to individuals who contact me directly. |

| Making jewelry has held interest for me since I was a kid. At age 9 or so, I saw a craftsperson create an enameled pendant on a copper blank for a group of us kids at a crafts festival. He gave it to me, and I thought "Whoa!, this is cool..." and I wore it like a badge of honor for a long time. To me, artistic handcrafted jewelry that is personal or unique is like magic. It makes the person wearing it feel special. Lucky for me, I grew up with an artistic mother who fostered my own artistic streak. I took a beading class with her when I was 12 or so (made some earrings), and I knew the meticulous nature and scale of the work was definitely for me. My mother was making fused glass jewelry in the 80's, so to me, melting glass is also nostalgic! |
